NATHAN NEWTON  collage-painting

Nathan Newton is an artist very much influenced by Pop culture, especially that of the Twentieth century, and his own past. Using mixed media to create memory on board and canvas, sometimes  hazy and distant sometimes clear he uses a sort of white-out effect to achieve his goal. His canvases can represent his own childhood such as  the piece titled "65" which uses vintage ephemera and his own childhood school work, saved by his mother. Or can depict his influences and the century that he has spent so much time in such as "Capsule 2". He uses oils with collage on the piece "Where is my Mind"  ,the title is taken from a song by the band The Pixies". The image of the man with his head wrapped in black cloth represents the artists fear of Alzheimer's, which has plagued members of his family. Nathan Newton lives and works in North Georgia.
